Job Description

Direct Counsel is seeking a Manager of Legislative Affairs & Government Relations to join a highly respected government relations and public policy team affiliated with a leading national law firm. The ideal candidate will support legislative advocacy efforts, regulatory initiatives, and client development activities across a broad range of industries and policy areas.

Requirements

  • Support the government relations and legislative affairs function across federal and state policy matters
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on legislative and regulatory developments affecting clients
  • Develop and implement strategic advocacy initiatives and policy engagement plans
  • Assist with advocacy efforts before federal policymakers, agencies, and other stakeholders
  • Help identify and prioritize proactive legislative and regulatory opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal teams and leadership on business development and client strategy initiatives
  • Conduct policy research, prepare briefing materials, and draft client-facing communications
  • Assist with managing escalated issues and developing strategic problem-solving approaches for clients
  • Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, industry groups, and stakeholders
